Lead Capture Pages, Are You Using One?…
By Terrance Charles |
One thing that I have been asked by other marketers is… Terrance, how do you create a lead capture page? There are many ways to go about creating a lead capture page, but I’ll give you the most simple and effective way.
It all starts with your target market, product or service…
How much times have you heard the phrase, the money is in the list? If you want to build a list, you need to build a lead capture page. What products or services are you trying to promote? Your lead capture page is a shorter version of your affiliate product with one action in mind, to collect contact information from your visitors so that you can follow up with them over and over again until they either purchase, signup, or whichever option you would like them to take.
Don’t advertise UNLESS you are using a lead capture page…
If you are going to spend on advertising, or trade time in order to get free traffic, it makes no sense to only produce a page view right? You want to go further than that and collect contact details of your visitors so that you can maximize your time and advertising and be able to follow up again.
Ok, so how do you create an effective lead capture page?
A squeeze page contains of a attention grabbing headline, bullet points about your products benefits, and a subscription form. You can even add testimonials, audio and video to it for better conversion depending on what you are promoting.
Use a CLEAR attention grabbing headline that will grab your visitors attention, and keep them locked on your page, your title is 90% responsible for the response from your visitors, it’s what makes them stay on your page, or don’t stay on your page. You have just 5 – 10 seconds to keep your visitors focus. You want to answer one question… WIIFM What’s in it for me? Your lead capture page should be focusing only on your visitors.
Once you have tested the title for your offer, then comes the bullet points. This is where you want to list ONLY benefits of what your product will do for them, it’s been proven that people like to see bullet points with benefits and some feature, just like when you watch HSN, you see how they emphasize every benefit.
Lead capture pages are evolving, since video and audio have become more popular because it connects with your visitors and builds trust with them. The more personal you are in your audio and video, the better your conversion will be and quicker contact details will be handed over, you have to give them a reason why. (TIP – it is better to use “first name” and “email address” format instead of all contact details such as address etc.
How to get your lead capture page to convert…
You want to have a clear call to action. Have you ever went to a website, and the navigation was so poor that you just aborted it. If there is no clear call to action that’s what will happen with your lead capture page, it has to present your title and capture their attention, keep them there with benefits in bullets, and even a audio or video to watch, then a subscription form that will give them the rest of the details, so they have a reason to fill it out.
Instead of using the standard “submit” button, it has been proven that using something like “send my free gift” or “gimme my subscription” etc has a better conversion rate, because it sort of put the phrase into your visitors mind, such as “grab your gift free”, see what I’m saying, that has a clear call to action.
What is the usual conversion rate of a lead capture page?
You can create a lead capture page with a 5% – 10% conversion rate, which is standard and great. There are lead capture pages that are converting at 25%, to even 50% and that is incredible, if your lead capture page converts that high, don’t mess with it at all…
Keep your main benefits and call to action above the fold, which is the first half of your website your visitor sees without having to scroll down, because that determines if they scroll down or not. I have found that using a 5 second drop in popup, not the kind that bounces around the screen, it just drops down, those have been the bulk of my subscriptions because I offer a free gift and it only pops up one time.
So using a free incentive to opt-in to your list is a GREAT method, and should be used every time, in some cases, people will opt-in because of the free product instead of your offer, but it’s still a signup.
Now that you have your lead capture page figured out, you need a autoresponder, I recommend using Getresponse.com I have been using this autoresponder for a while without any problems, it is built for the marketer, so that’s VERY important in the capabilities that you can use, compared to other autoresponders with limits.
Create follow up letters, so that when your visitor opts-in, it sends them a thank you email and your free gift as promised along with the information they requested.
Do not try to sell in your 1st email, they trusted you with their contact information, so you have to follow through on your part and continue to give them what they asked for.
Start implementing and getting the results you want…
Put these principles into place and remember, test, test, test, continue testing your lead capture page until you are getting the results that you want, if you are getting above average responses, you have created a great lead capture page. Always make it personal, would it get you to give your contact details, you have to think like your visitor.
