Traffic Is Good, But It’s Not Important Unless…

As marketers we’ve been taught that in order to be successful in our business we need a lot of consistent traffic coming to our website. Well, that is true but, that is NOT the case.
So what am I referring too?
Let me give you an example… Have you ever had a great amount of traffic to your website and inturn you get NO results at all? Why is this? Although you want to focus on getting traffic to your website that is NOT the main concern, it’s USELESS without conversion.
That’s the key to the traffic!
You can send 1000’s of visitors to your website but, if it doesn’t convert then you are making no sales, no subscribers, no signups and no real results. I’ve tried everything you can think of to drive traffic to my website, search engine optimization, writing articles, affiliate programs, and paid advertising and although I was getting the kind of traffic I was looking for, I wasn’t getting the kind of results I needed.
So I blamed the quality of the traffic, ofcourse not all traffic is equal, its ONLY at it’s best when it’s targeted, so I would push harder to get more traffic and better quality traffic and although just a little bit of results started happening, I wondered why I wasn’t getting serious results for the serious amount of traffic, and I figured out what I was doing wrong…
I didn’t have a great website conversion, so how do you fix this?
There’s lot’s of ways you can go about it, but for the most effective and simple way. You want to evaluate your website. You want to look at all aspects of your website. My rule of thumb is, if your website doesn’t entice you to read it or entice you to click on the links you have or perhaps subscribe, then it will have the same impact on other people.
- Test Your Headline, try to be more creative and straight to the point on what your product of service is about, and why should your visitor continue reading. You have to have that down pact in the first fold of the website, which is the top half of the website that your visitor sees without having to scroll down. You don’t have to completely eliminate your title, you can change the words around for a better impact.
- Test Your Template Design, it’s know that certain colors can cause different responses, for example, the color red will have a sense of urgency, mostly seen in sales letter where it get’s you to act on it immediately or quickly grab your attention, so it can make your website seem urgent. The color blue, is known to have a calm response, it makes your visitors stay on your website even longer because it’s like a sense of relaxation, you can try different colors mostly light colors, you don’t want to use really dark colors.
- Test Your Navigation, is your navigation easy to follow. I’ve seen a lot of website where there is no call to action, and poor navigation and what ends up happening is your visitor will immediately leave your website because it confused them on the action to take. You have to have a call to action, your website should tell your visitor, go here and do this, or you can get the full story at the link below etc. So you want to make it your main focus, the main step you want your visitors to take.
Those are 3 of the most important changes you want to look at, you need a great headline, you need a great template that put’s your visitor at ease, and you need to test your navigation so that your visitors will have a clear path to go and to take a certain action.
Afterall, what is great about traffic if it’s not converting and not making you money?
So it’s not about how much traffic you can drive to your website, it’s all about how much traffic you can make convert on your website, how much return visitors you can get to your website, how much great content you can continue to give on your website or your newsletter etc, how to maximize the traffic that you already have coming to your website.
Focus on these key points and just test your website, test where your advertising is coming from and which one is producing the best results, because then you will know what is working, the quality and target of the traffic, and keep your advertising cost low, implement these strategies on your website and watch your traffic conversion cause more sales, signups and subscribers.
