Are You Using Article Marketing Effectively?

You’ve been told that one of the best ways for traffic generation is to write articles and submit them to article directories.

But are you using article writing effectively?

I have heard different ways to use article marketing to drive traffic to your website, and one that I hear the most is to use article submitter software, do I agree with it? It depends, because google has made some changes that will effect the way we submit articles, it will be counted as duplicate content.

And having duplicate content, is not good for your search engine ranking, it can eliminate you from the search engines all together and we know that most of your traffic comes from the search engines, so you have to be careful with which software submitter you are using.

Here’s some tips to reduce duplicate content…

When you are submitting to article directories, you really want to change some of your article copy, such as your title, most important, and you can even change a paragraph or two for different submissions, this way you don’t get penalized for duplicate content.

I recommend submitting manually if you are just starting to use articles, submit to the top article directories, one of them you really want to pay attention to is EzineArticles.com which is one of the most popular article directories on the internet, so you have a better chance of your article being read, and even used by ezine publishers.

How to create a great article?

There are many ways you can go about this. But the best way is to write about information that you know best. It will make it much easier to write, and not stumble with writers block.

Choose a topic that has appeal, a topic that pertains to something current in the market, or one that creates others to post comments and feedback, you can even use the resource box and put your blog there so you can have social interaction about your article, cause a buzz, get more traffic.

When writing your article, make sure that you have a great title, a clear opening to keep your readers attention. Use clear details and elaborate on each point you make, there always has to be a reason.

Content is king, the more great content you write without a purpose for something in return the better your article will do. It’s ok to have your website in the resource box, ofcourse, you wrote the article, you should be rewarded. Avoid using affiliate links in the article body, or creating advertisements throughout the article.

Keeping your article helpful and content driving, will make it easier for ezine publishers to pick it up and use it, and guess what, that traffic can last for months to years, I have one article that is still there after 6 years so you can see why it is long lasting residual traffic.

How to flood your website with more traffic?

Continue to write articles, atleast 1 a day. I prefer to write atleast 3 a day, the more the better the traffic and the chances it will be used in a publication.

Imagine, if you write 1 article a day for 30 days, that’s 30 articles all bringing you back traffic to your website, and out of those 30 it’s not unusual for 1 or 2 of your articles to be picked up and launched to ezine publishers subscriber base with 1000’s – 100,000’s of subscribers, so it’s a very powerful traffic generation method.

Your resource box is very important…

When you write your resource box, make sure that you have written a clear description and a call to action. You can write part of a article and have them subscribe through your resource box for the next part of the article. You can write different parts to the article such as, part 1, part 2, part 3 to even maximize your article reach.

Write a short explanation about yourself and your business that will still be current months from now, years from now. One marketer I know uses a rotator, that way after he’s written a lot of articles, he can just login to the rotator and change the website if it needs updates, very smart.

But the only thing with that is, it won’t give you search engine linkback because it will be the rotator URL instead of your website, and article linkbacks from the search engine are quality linkbacks, they look at your site as a authority on content.

Continue to publish your articles, find the best article directory sites, write great content that is helpful, don’t use advertisements in your article, make sure your resource box is descriptive and will have a long term effect for months or years to come, and invite ezine publishers to read your article and even publish it…
