Traffic Is Good, But It’s Not Important Unless…

By Terrance Charles |

As marketers we’ve been taught that in order to be successful in our business we need a lot of consistent traffic coming to our website. Well, that is true but, that is NOT the case.

So what am I referring too?

Let me give you an example… Have you ever had a great amount of traffic to your website and inturn you get NO results at all? Why is this? Although you want to focus on getting traffic to your website that is NOT the main concern, it’s USELESS without conversion.

That’s the key to the traffic!

You can send 1000’s of visitors to your website but, if it doesn’t convert then you are making no sales, no subscribers, no signups and no real results. I’ve tried everything you can think of to drive traffic to my website, search engine optimization, writing articles, affiliate programs, and paid advertising and although I was getting the kind of traffic I was looking for, I wasn’t getting the kind of results I needed.

So I blamed the quality of the traffic, ofcourse not all traffic is equal, its ONLY at it’s best when it’s targeted, so I would push harder to get more traffic and better quality traffic and although just a little bit of results started happening, I wondered why I wasn’t getting serious results for the serious amount of traffic, and I figured out what I was doing wrong…

I didn’t have a great website conversion, so how do you fix this?

There’s lot’s of ways you can go about it, but for the most effective and simple way. You want to evaluate your website. You want to look at all aspects of your website. My rule of thumb is, if your website doesn’t entice you to read it or entice you to click on the links you have or perhaps subscribe, then it will have the same impact on other people.

Those are 3 of the most important changes you want to look at, you need a great headline, you need a great template that put’s your visitor at ease, and you need to test your navigation so that your visitors will have a clear path to go and to take a certain action.

Afterall, what is great about traffic if it’s not converting and not making you money?

So it’s not about how much traffic you can drive to your website, it’s all about how much traffic you can make convert on your website, how much return visitors you can get to your website, how much great content you can continue to give on your website or your newsletter etc, how to maximize the traffic that you already have coming to your website.

Focus on these key points and just test your website, test where your advertising is coming from and which one is producing the best results, because then you will know what is working, the quality and target of the traffic, and keep your advertising cost low, implement these strategies on your website and watch your traffic conversion cause more sales, signups and subscribers.

Great post. Traffic is key and if your website isn’t converting like how it should, you will loose potential sales. I always test my headline and adcopy to see how it’s converting.
