Is It Easy As Ever To Start a Social Networking / Web 2.0 Website?…

This is one that I have been dwelling on for a while now. If you pay attention to the latest trends in the great land of the internet, you’ll notice they are certain criterias that people are looking for and how easy it really is to provide a solution in the form of a social networking or web 2.0 site… Can the average joe really start one?
How easy is it to really start a social networking website?…
That’s a great question. But I can tell you from paying attention to the trends of sites like myspace, youtube, facebook, mybloglog, blogrush, technorati and other social networking sites, it’s easy as ever to take your idea and bring it to the internet.
One thing I noticed with these types of websites is that, they serve a purpose. They find demand and create a supply, the winning formula to success. Also, they all have catchy names and catchy logos that make them what they are, think about it?
Websites like netflix, facebook, technorati, digg, blogrush, youtube, mysapace etc all have that branding and name recognition that a social networking site should have. Lately, I have been seeing a lot of these websites popping up and doing some GREAT numbers in terms of traffic and profits, and they tend to take off virally on their own because of the great marketing behind them.
Can the average joe start a social networking site?…
This is a debatable topic, but I’ll tell you I think anyone can really. If you have a decent budget to invest in one, or you can get a business loan, you can definitely do your research, and take your idea from paper to the world of the internet and really make a brandable and profitable social networking website.
The cost involve everything from programming, website hosting, website design, advertising and marketing cost etc. But once you have a budget for it all, it’s possible to fund your new million dollar idea based off of research and the trend in the market.
Recently BlogRush.com was launched by a very successful Internet Marketer John Reese and with the same principles applied to start a social networking / web 2.0 site it has been recieving record growth. It solves a problem in the blogging community, it’s a useful service for driving traffic to your blog, and it’s viral with a great brand and great marketing behind it.
Find a PROBLEM or DEMAND, then create the SOLUTION or SUPPLY and you have no choice but to create a popular and profitable product or service, it’s the formula to success on the internet, it’s not the other way around that they teach when you get a marketing degree, it’s all about what works now, what’s HOT and what’s NOT.
I hope that I sparked some interest for you, because If your like me, you pay attention to the market trend and you can see wants and needs, but there is no solution for those wants and needs. Continue to do your research and write them down in the form of a notebook or notepad that’s already in windows, because your not far from starting your very own social networking / web 2.o empire.
