Respect Or Attention - Which Do You Prefer?…

Lately I came across this topic on respect and attention. Which one is more important especially to your business and your image. This is a very good question because it can be discussed on both points as to why you would choose either one.
Would You Rather Have Respect Or Attention?…
The way I see it is, if it came down to one of the 2 I would rather get the attention first, because once you get attention you can gain respect. How can you gain respect if you are getting no attention. The name of the game is promotion and if you get the right attention you can create the respect.
Ofcourse you want people to respect you because that means that they trust you, so in business when you are selling your products and services you already have loyal customers that will buy from you, but why not gain more attention right and create more customers that overtime you build respect with.
Look at celebrities like lindsay lohan, paris hilton, howard stern etc, you’ll notice one thing and that’s that they all get attention. They may not be getting the respect that they want, but either way their still getting the publicity in the media good or bad so it’s just branding them more.
I read in a magazine that there are 2 types of people, and they are people that will hate you and people that will like you, but what’s interesting is this… The people who hate howard stern listens to his radio show for more than 1 hour, and the people who like howard stern listens for less than 1 hour.
That shows that regardless if people hate you or not, they’ll still listen to what you have to say and still buy from you, it’s proven. Look at the rich jerk, I know your familiar with his work, his sales letter is not for the easily offended and I really don’t like the style it’s written in because it’s just a character.
But, what I do like is the fact that this made up character wether people love him or hate him will still get him sales, signups and subscribers. Some people love being told straight up what it’s all about, it takes people out of their comfort zone, it’s ok to be snobby you can say, business is busines, and some people need that wakeup call.
So it all boils down to this, which one would you rather have respect or attention and why?
What would you do if 10,000 prospects turned their attention to your internet business?

Hey Terrance, another great post as usual and a interesting question. I would say both, but if it’s between the 2 I would go for respect first because once you buld trust with people they will be more likely to buy from you and listen to you, although attention is great it may not bring you the respect.
