I’m Getting Traffic, But Where Are My Sales?…
By Terrance Charles |
This is a very important question that I get all the time, and I have the explanation as to why it seems this way. A lot of internet marketers get traffic, but that’s not the problem, the problem is the traffic is not producing any type of sales or results, so here’s why this happens and what to do about it…
Getting Traffic, But No Sales?…
The first thing you may think is, ok it’s my website, maybe if I tweak it this way or that way I’ll get a better conversion, although that’s true, it goes deeper than just tweaking your website, first you have to know how that traffic is converting, you need to have statistics that tell you EVERYTHING about your visitors, what they are clicking on, how long they are staying on your website etc.
But most importantly… The main reason why your traffic may not be converting like it should is because traffic is funny, it doesn’t depend on how much traffic you get, it all depends on the QUALITY of the traffic your getting and if it’s TARGETED. That’s VERY important, it’s easy to get hits and maybe pull in a sale on not so targeted traffic, but that’s where the main problem lies.
If your using traffic exchanges, safelist, and listbuilders etc to attract traffic, your not attracting as much REAL buyers, you want buyers not lookers. You basically attract more internet marketers this way because they are doing the same thing there, advertising to each other, you need to find YOUR target market and get your message to them, qualified people already looking for what your offering.
Just the other day I read about one marketer that was getting almost 1,000+ visitors a day and it still was not producing any kind of sales or results. The problem was not only the site navigation and what is being offered, because for one if you offer your visitors to much choices, they’ll end up making none at all, you don’t want to confuse them. The second problem was that the traffic was not targeted, it was generic traffic from different keywords etc, so there was no real interest in people to buy.
The Rules Of Traffic Is…
There’s ONLY 3 types of traffic. Either you buy, create, or borrow. Using forums and other free methods isn’t bad, but you must know how it’s converting because if you don’t you’ll just end up wasting time and frustrating yourself. There’s many ways to gain traffic, but the main tactics that will give you sales, signups and subscribers etc are…
PPC, Ezines, Viral Marketing (Videos On Youtube), Article Writing, Search Engine Optimization, Buying Text Links On Targeted High Traffic Sites, Blogging, Press Releases etc. You have to think outside the box, if the current method your using isn’t producing results, track your visitors and take another route of advertising, one form of advertising doesn’t work for everyone.
There’s a lot of advertising niches you can tap into. I personally like to buy text links on high traffic sites that doesn’t have too much competition as far as ads, and that are targeted to the “T”, that’s a great method, it can produce 1,000′s of visitors daily and you only paid $100 or so, could be lower, could be higher, but your buying targeted traffic.
As far as guaranteed visitors, STAY away from that type of traffic source, it’s not REAL quality targeted traffic. I use to purchase them all the time thinking it would make a difference, I just ended up loosing money and time. They get traffic from adult websites and other non targeted sources, also they use popunders, and I don’t know anyone in today’s internet that doesn’t have popup blockers.
Track your statistics, make sure that your sites navigation has a call to action. That’s VERY important, if it doesn’t have a call to action, no action will be taken. All that will happen is your visitors will look and then exit, if it doesn’t say this is what my sites about and this is what you should do, it won’t hold any interest.
So if you are getting traffic, but your not converting as much as you like into sales, signups subcribers etc, be sure to get full details of your statistics, create a call to action, make sure your navigation is easy to navigate, and that it’s user friendly, no eye hurting colors or fonts, and that it displays well on most browsers, especially the top 3 browsers. Follow these steps and watch your traffic bring you real results

When I first started out on the web, trying to make money, I did all the wrong things as far as getting traffic. It was somewhat targeted, but not really.
I love your article and all your tips for targeting your audience. Thank you for all the info, I am sure others out there are going to really look into where their traffic is coming from!
