Dude, Where’s My Whopper?

By Terrance Charles |

Just the other day I came across a BRILLIANT marketing campaign for Burger King. You’ve probably already know what I’m talking about. It’s where they inform their customers that they are no longer selling whoppers and they film their reactions. If your not fimiliar with it, you can see it at WhopperFreakout.Com.

The reason I bring this to attention is because I have a trained mind to tell when something is a HIT or not and if it will really produce results. I forgot all about the whopper until I saw this commercial. But not only is it about the whopper, it’s the way that they marketed it.

What does it have to do with Internet Marketing?…

Everything. It has all the principles of creating a successful marketing campaign which includes creating buzz, curiosity, desire, and using the power of viral marketing. After you watch the commercial, your instructed to check out the website to see more reactions.

I included the video so that you can watch it here too…

It’s funny how we comment about commercials, how stupid, silly or obnoxious they are, yet if you think about it, the crazier they are, the more they might not make sense, the more remembered they are.

I still remember the “Where’s the Beef” little old lady!

Using this type of marketing on the internet is more important than ever these days with so many people competing for business, so I say go for it, do the silly, crazy and obnoxious, why not! It might just get you the traffic you have been searching for.
