How To Effortlessly Get Traffic To Your Blog Free With Couple Little Ad-Ons…

Getting traffic isn’t rockect science, but it’s not the easiest thing to do especially if you run a blog or a website. You usually hear stuff like, just post to forums all day, or mass submit your websites to those services etc. But, if you do ONLY couple things to your blog, you won’t have a problem getting traffic, what are they?

How To Get Traffic To Your Blog Free…

How To Get Traffic To Your Blog

First off, a blog is operated off of content. That’s the main ingredient in a blog. If you want to get your blog noticed and recommended, you just have to have good content. It just can’t be any content that has been rehashed. Just like creating a product, you still have to find a demand or niche for your blog.

Once you find what people are looking for or talking about, you can then create a blog around that and let them continue the conversation or interest on your blog. What works well with a blog? Informative, Conversation, Controversy, Curiosity, Debatable topics, humor / entertainment, hot topics etc just to name a few.

If you can follow those guidelines in your niche, then you’ll have no problem with people paying attention to your blog because you created content for them. Now let’s talk about where the traffic REALLY comes from once you used the guidelines above.

If your new to blogging, this is important. Before I get into it, you want to use wordpress for your blogging platform, there’s more plugins and functions. There’s nothing wrong with blogger or typepad etc, but blogger doesn’t have their own hosted version like wordpress, instead of blogtalk.blogspot.com why not have the blogtalk.com – sure you can redirect it, but it looks more professional on wordpress.

Back to traffic… I tell everyone this when they ask what is the best way to drive traffic for free, now you know about forums, articles, traffic echanges etc, but a blog is one of the best ways, but I tell them to use viral marketing in their blog, that’s the biggest step.

I mean, look at facebook, twitter, digg, myspace etc – the reason they are so successful is because they use viral marketing, not just because the concept of what they offer, it’s how they get others to offer it over and over, virally.

How Do You Make Your Blog Viral?

You want to get plugins. If you don’t know, plugins are little tools that you can add on to your blog to make it more functional. You want to make sure that you have the best plugins on your blog such as, all in one seo, automatic ping updater, sociable, spam karma, subscribe to comments, popularity contest, xml-sitemap - just to name a few, because the more useful ones you have the better your blog will function.

The traffic comes from making your blog ALL the way viral. I mean, on every page of your blog, there should be a way for your visitor to recommend it to others, even if it’s just a “about me” page. The more ease you put on your visitor to recommend your blog, the more willing they will.

You ever been to one of your favorite websites and wanted to share the site or picture etc and had no easy way of doing so? If you make it hard for people to share your site, they won’t try it at all, just the other day I wanted to share one but just the way it was setup made me just forget about it, so it’s a common sense approach.

You can get free traffic from search engines, so you definitely want to make sure your blog is fully search engine ready with the right meta tag title / keywords etc. If you notice that you are getting keywords close to what you are aiming for but not together in a phrase, you need to work on optimizing your blog more.

One of the most effective ways to get blog traffic too is to leave comments on other high traffic blogs with “follow” meta tags. You’ll simply gain page rank, backlinks, and traffic just for leaving a comment. Find hot topics that people are really commenting on, but it works both ways, you can find a high traffic site and they may be only 3 comments on that post, but those 3 comments are getting traffic.

You want to build as many backlinks from high page rank sites as possible, that’s what search engines love. Let’s say you leave 10 comments on 10 high traffic blogs, you can get around 100 - 500+ visitors a day, I do it all the time. I always include my URL like a signature at the end and people really do click on it to check you out.

Ok, the best way to make your site viral is to use the most POPULAR social bookmarking websites such as digg, technorati, stumbleupon just a few to name, by the way – stumbleupon sent me 946 visitors in 48 hours, you can read the blog post here.

You site should be about 50% viral and 50% content. These two go hand in hand. It may sound like a simple logic, BUT – you would be surprised at just how these two work hand in hand. It’s been working for my blog and other blogs that get traffic.

If you look at the kind of content I write, it’s informative, so my visitors and readers have no problem giving me a “digg” or “stumble” and traffic spikes bring new visitors and readers to do the same.

Write great content, make it user friendly, it’s all about your readers. Your blog is taught to be about you, but it’s all about your readers, it’s about how you can help them, and the best way possible, make it comfortable for them and you’ll have no problems with comments or recommendations, and once you have viral capability, it’s only a tell-a-friend email away or more backlinks effortlessly.

GIVE them a reason recommend your blog. You don’t just want to write everyday content, sure some post may be simple, but sometimes that’s all it really is, the simple stuff. Keep this principle on your blog and watch your traffic skyrocket. By the way, if this post was helpful to you, make sure to give me a digg or linkback ;-)

Thanks for the great information. I was surfing around, and came across these sites, TS25 – Traffic Builder ( http://www.ts25.com/index.jsp?ref=thedealhunters ), and Traffic Swarm ( http://www.trafficswarm.com/go.cgi?854215 ). I had like 100 hits in a matter 2 hours. This may help some people.

Ok this is half the info I was looking for. The other half is probably here I just don’t know how in the hell to interpret it lol. I am not sure what a feed is and my GOD I have tried to google it and it just leads to more jargon that I don’t understand. If I could just understand the basics, I could figure the rest out on my own. Other than my own ignorance, very informative! lol.

    Very impressive.

I like how you just laser-targetted the main point and skipped the colloquial fuzz.

I find it effective if you combine good content, with funny images, and humor.
