Out With The Old, In With The New…
By Terrance Charles |
If you’ve been marketing on the internet for a while now, you’ve seen a lot of things come and a lot of things go. And that seems to be the case with the new year approaching. There are a lot of things that will be replaced and some things that will get more light. Here are just a few that I think will be more popular in 2009.
Out With The Old, In With The New…
One of the first things I think will be more popular in 2009 is twitter. If you don’t know what twitter is, you need to hop on it now, it’s a great tool for conversating and building relationships with other like minded marketers and having other people follow your updates, vica versa.
Social Networking is proven to be one of the most popular. It’s not just 1 person talking to other people, it’s all about everyone connecting an having a voice of their own. People want to hang out with cool people, if your boring, they’ll find someone else cooler to hang with. That’s a good reason to have a blog too, to show personality and connect with your followers.
Like it is said, you don’t randomly walk up to someone and say “hey, my name is xyz and I want to sell you this” right!? Because you know that they really don’t give a shit about you. It’s all about connecting with the people around you, conversating with them and helping them out, being the go to guy, or gal ;-) .
You’ll start to see a lot more free content of value. Free content is big, and if you can provide real value, people will learn to trust you, and you’ll basically be that person they talk about to thier friends. It’s like a party, and your the host of the party, you want to make sure that all your guest are having fun. If there not having fun, there not coming back to any of your parties again.
It’s NOT really about selling anymore. Sure, marketing is about selling, but it won’t apply to the same strategies that’s been taught. It’s about being real, and connecting with your email list, blog readers, customers and visitors. They can easily spot a fake, and then move on to someone else.
If you want to sell more, be more personal, cater to their needs and want’s, not just yours or else they’ll see that too. I always say, when your emailing someone or writing a blog post, talk to them like you would if they were sitting across from you, just keep everything simple and to the point, have a 2 way conversation and let them decide what to do after.
People love stories, that’s a fact. And it’s proven that if you used more stories in your marketing, you’ll get better results. When you give them a story, you connect with them and they’ll want to hear the rest of it – Like, let me tell you a story about what happened to me the other day. I was just minding my own business and… Like that for example, you were ready to hear what I have to say
.
When people ask me, hey Terrance… How do I acheive more success in my business? I tell them, provide value to your market, build trust and relationships with your followers. Be more personal on YOU, and not just every new thing that comes out, don’t try to sell them, and just have FUN doing it, they’ll be more likely to buy from you.
So you really want to concentrate on social networking and web 2.0, just when you thought it was slowing down, it’s about to get a bigger boost in 2009. I mean, where else can you post couple videos, upload them to your blog or video websites, and have 1,000′s of people pounding your websites to learn more about you or buy from you!?
In my next post I’m going to give you a detailed prediction on what I think is going to be BIG in 2009, don’t miss out.
To The TOP,
