What’s The Big Deal About Twitter? Why Should You Use It?

Unless you been under a rock for a while, you most likely heard about Twitter. And more than ever, you’ve been hearing about it more, and your probably thinking, what’s the big deal and why should you use it. Well, that’s a real good question, and months ago I wasn’t using it either because I thought it was just another waste of time service, but that wasn’t the case…
Why Should You Use Twitter?…
First off, if your not familiar with Twitter, it’s a service where you send what they call “Tweets” to each other which is basically a 140 character text message on what’s going on with you and the people around you. You can send them from your blog, twitter applications, and you can even send SMS messages etc from your cellphone.
The concept works on you following other like minded people’s updates aka Tweets, and those people following your Tweets also. I’ve been using it for about 5 months now and I found that it is a effective tool for communicating with your market, and being able to get your name and tweets infront of your subscribers, customers, friends and followers.
Btw, here is my Twitter URL and I usually follow everyone that follows me. It’s good for creating personal branding, conversating with top marketers, doing research on topics, to even finding out what someone ate for dinner, yes – you’ll see quite a few of those, but all in all it’s a powerful tool to get more exposure, and one that will become more popular in 2009.
If your already using Twitter, then you know what it can do for you, but if your not using it because your not really familiar with it, you can check out the Twitter Handbook that explains everything, and another point is, most of your customers, subscribers and friends are already using it, so it’s another way of communication and versatility for your business.

Nice site! I saw you on the CYN Forum.
Dr. Mani originally introduced me to Twitter in a forum last December but I didn’t catch on to how useful and interesting it could be until I went through Ed Dale’s 30 Day Challenge recently.
There’s a Twitter tool I think you will like:

Tweetdeck allows you to do all sorts of things, but most important keep a running search on the main timeline on Twitter so you know when anyone talks about subjects you want to talk about. You get a notification any time someone mentions your search term.
