Do People Know, Like, And Trust You?
By Terrance Charles |
There are 3 words in business that will result in success if you master all 3 of them which is really TOO easy to do, as long as you stick to them. Do People Know, Like, And Trust You? People only like to relate and buy from people they know, like and trust. When you figure out how to make this happen for you, everything changes.
Do People Know, Like, And Trust You?

Just like the offline world, you only associate yourself with people you know, like and trust. It is no different online, the same principle applies because it is human nature, except online in virtual form you have to stick out to people so that they can put you in this category. How do you do this?
Can people get to know you?
With online marketing, this can be fairly hard or fairly easy. To make it easy you have to let people know how they can get to know you, can they find you on the social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIN? Can they call and chat with you through phone or on different website platforms that allow you to do this?
Do they know where to find your newsletter to get more information on your “how to” information, or even find your products and about pages, bio’s and testimonials to get a idea of who you are and what you do? Those are the questions and methods you want to aim towards.
Can people get to like you?
How do you get people to like you in your business? Simple, keep it real with them all the way and be a resourceful person. Someone that they can talk to and know that their email will get answer, or you’ll communicate with them through messenger etc, just be a people person.
But, best of all give them value, which will give a good first impression and leave a lasting impression in their minds, it will be hard for them to get you off their mind as you start to become the cool go to guy.
Can people get to trust you?
How do you build trust offline? By being credible right? So how can that adapt to your business? Producing pure and valuable content. That’s the fastest way to get your readers and visitors to trust you. Your content should educate, entertain and enlighten them.
Once you are credible you are trusted, no other way around, once you deliver on your promise and stay on top of your game, your readers and visitors can see and sense this and you start to build trust in their mind and they also recommend you to others in the process.
These 3 factors are what really matters, not just the autoresponders or product launches, the barebone principles right here that you must master first, all the rest will fall in line later as people get to know, like and trust.
Think about your favorite expert, why is that person your favorite? Because you know, like and trust them right? People love cool people, they flock to them, using these principles you too can have people flocking to learn more about you

Hi Terrence,
Such common sense advice, yet ignored by many online entrepreneurs. Until you’re trusted very few will do business with you.
Great tips buddy!

Exactly Ryan, it’s the same way we chose brands and products, if we don’t know who it is, or how good their brand is, we don’t associate ourselves with them, Thanks.

Terrance:
Totally agree on the Know, Like, Trust Factor. I did a post on it myself back this summer after literally running and trying to hide from someone at a local expo that I totally don’t like (I know her). The reason why I don’t like her is because of how she approaches things in her “selling” techniques.
Granted, her style may be fine for some but for myself it was a put-off.
Take the time to get to know people and the trust and liking will naturally come into play! (that’s my theory at least).

I hear ya Michelle, I have a few of them myself, the only thing they talk to you about is selling their products and services on you, and their really a likeable person but using it in that way is a turnoff and will forever tarnish their reputation, Thanks.

Great post Terrance. While I was reading it, I was thinking to myself that I know of quite a few marketers out there that should read this! Thank you!

Thanks Brenda, I appreciate you swinging on through to comment. Your definitely right though, if there’s one thing you want to do in this industry is be known, liked and trusted, everything else will fall into place as momentum builds. Basically keeping it real as you mentioned.

Hey Terrance,
Once again, yet another outstanding topic. I was just talking to an individual just the other day who invited me out to a “business meeting” (AKA Networking Marketing presentation). Mind you, I love the Network Marketing concept. However, I informed this individual that if people don’t know you, then how do you expect to do well in your business? He really didn’t have an answer, but kept referring to the individual who presented that particular meeting. I stressed the importance of self-branding, especially online. But it just wasn’t getting through.
Any products that I have come secondary, I genuinely care about my followers and what’s going on in their lives. How else do we intend on helping them, without even knowing them.
Great article my Brother.

Jon, my man! I just had a similar experience with this the other day. Someone invited me to join a network marketing company, however instead of them telling me about it themselves, they tried to pass me off to another team member, which I can understand is sharing. But, I was more interested in joining the company with that particular person until they referred me to someone else.
The reason being, I knew the person presenting the offer, I didn’t know the other person she referred me to. So all in all, it’s about branding YOU. Little did she know, she have someone that is experienced in network marketing and have a big client base that could of rocked her business
Thanks for your feedback bro, keep up the great work and see you around the network!
